We finished the Fringe Festival this week! Whoooofooo....! That was an amazing past couple of weeks. We had 1 performance on Sunday April 13th that hosted an audience of 900 people. The production was called Ecclesia and was part of a series called Redemption History. This production was the brain child of a student at Westmont, and this performance was part of his Senior project. I consider it to be a huge success. More of a spectacle event with a bold and clear message.
Shortly after this productions performance we had 18 original dance and theatre pieces performed in a period of 4 days (each twice) and an all day extravaganza to close the festival. The pieces were primarily student directed, designed, and adapted from literature by Hans Christian Anderson and Gogol. I was very proud of my lighting design students! They created some intriguing moments, memorable images, and contributed to the collaborative process with an artistic professionalism that could rival today's professional artists. I don't have photos yet, but I plan to have them within a couple of weeks. I hope you will enjoy them!
