New Havenworth

I recently read about a performing arts center that opened in the 1980s, and for various reasons (mostly because the original companies involved with the arts center have moved on) is now up for sale. This news has got me thinking about what it takes to develop and sustain a successful arts center.

Is it the artistic quantity or quality of an event? Yes
Is it the Management? Yes
Is it the Staff? Yes
Is it the Audience? Yes
Is it the Financial Supporters? Yes
Is it the Publicity? Yes
Is it the equipment or assets? Yes

Some would say it's all of the above in one way or another...Well, then the question is no longer what it takes to develop and sustain a successful arts center, but which of these essential components is most important, and how do each receive appropriate attention without sacrificing the quality of any?

As I begin to grow and develop New Havenworth, I hope to find collaborators with the capacity to continually strengthen these various aspects and others that I have not posted here. I believe that each component of a company needs to be given 100% quality attention...attention that is carefully calculated to produce the appropriate quantity for the projected audience. A quantity and quality that considers the current financial limitations, personnel ability, and resource capacity. With these things continually in mind, the arts center ought to have the best possible chance to be successful and sustainable.
