Glimmer Glass Opera
I just got back from visiting the Glimmer Glass Opera near Cooperstown in Up-State New York! It was fantastic...the set was practical, open, and a lighting designers dream (side light and more side light!). Well, if you're into that kind of thing and I AM!
I went up there to meet with Jane Cox who designed lights for last years Broadway production of Come Back Little Sheba. Jane is a sweet heart. She was very accommodating, and generous to give of her time to answer a couple of simple questions, give feed-back on my thoughts, and watch my presentation. Can't say how much that little bit of time today helped out tremendously. Not only that, but the chance to sit in on a final Dress Rehearsal of The Consul, while she fine tuned her lighting design was also a blessing. I haven't ever seen anybody else cue a show besides my friend Thad Kramer at UMass. I need to see more, but this is a great start. Anyway, not bad for 7 hours of driving and 7 hours of interaction and reflection...Onward!
