I enjoy watching students approach questions, build bridges, maneuvre obstacles, and find their way to a solution. I enjoy being part of the process as much as I enjoy watching the process from the side or hearing about it over the phone. When I think about these students, I think about what I want the Havenworth project to be...I want people to learn as much from each other as they teach...I want to see challenges, questions, obstacles overcome, answered, and mastered. I want to see the arts grow in and through the communities that create them...through the communities that enliven. These Senior Projects are the first fruits of their labors as artists...the first opportunity for them to fly solo and learn what it means to collaborate, to struggle, to create, to see hopes and dreams told in stories on a stage. I hope their work is as enriching and rewarding as my first solo collaboration when I was studying at Westmont.

Senior Projects
A couple of my students are ramping up for their final projects during their time at Westmont. I have watched these two grow from confused and inquisitive to grasping and curious...now, they are bold and challenging. They challenge me to push them, to question them, to listen to them...they encourage me to be supportive, curious, and inevitably intrigued. Neither production is necessarily "mainstream" as one may call it. Thank God! They have found an edge to set their story on and drive messages to a viewing audience.
