Arsenic and Old Lace--v.

Fire Evacuation...!

Today was a regular run of the mill day...We continued to cut lumber, measure lumber, stretch muslin, glue and nail luan...But then something different happened!?!

Sanding spackling paste in doors...

I had just finished altering a door flat when Dan asked me to sand the texture off so we could paint it. However, after looking at it more closely, he decided it would be better just to replace the muslin all together. I began ripping it off as Marie was doing on Tuesday, then found a small 2 foot by 3 foot spackled area that was about 1/2 inch thick. I got out the sander and began slowly shaving off the layers ...and the dust began to fly.

Now, at this time a children's play was going on in the theatre in the next room. A great little performance, "The great race of the Tortoise and the Hare." There were about 200 parents and children quietly watching the play when lights started flashing, alarms started buzzing and whirring, and Stage Managers started making announcements to please vacate the building. I knew what had happened...the place was full of spackle dust...how could I not have figured it out? Well, Dan came in pretty quick telling us to vacate quickly...and I told him what had happened...he said "Well, we need to wait outside until the fire department clears the building for re-entry." I felt awful! I needed some excitement today, but that is not what I was planning. The fire department gave the approval...we went back to work...some jokes were commented...and the play went on. Most all of the people stayed...I hope nobody asks for a refund...yikes!

Anyway, we got some more work done...

Wall Paper

Marie and Anna spent most of the day putting wall paper onto the walls that we had prepared yesterday...along with a few coats of paint. What a process...any body need some wall paper in their homes...Marie and Anna have the know how.

Doesn't Marie look like she is having fun!

We got a lot of work done...here is a shot of the final touches being put on for the end of the day...

Lots of painting and wallpapering today.

Even though we had an interesting interruption around midday we got a lot of work done...only a handful of days left to go, and then its time to tear down the old set and put up the new one.
