Revision of Mission Statement

Here is the original draft of the mission statement for the Havenworth Visual and Performing Arts Center...

Mission Statement: “Why does the organization exist?”

We exist because our society requires a performing and visual arts center that crosses the boundaries between the arts. An organization that is Christ centered, an organization that reaches out to all art forms and gives them a place to live…to breathe, grow, be fed, and nurtured. Our society requires a performing and visual arts center that allows the artists to live in residence. This facility exists to offer temporary housing for artists and audiences. A place where artists and arts enthusiasts can live in community while they explore the wonders of humanities creative minds and energies. Our center for the performing and visual arts will be a place for theatres, operas, dance, sculpture, for all the arts to come and begin a conversation, to live a conversation, and become the conversation around the world.

I have decided to edit this a bit after having a chance to explore and expand the collaborative process, this site, and my own ideas. Here is what I have come up with...Let me know what you think...any critiques or thoughts?

Mission Statement: “Why does the organization exist?”

Our society requires a Visual and Performing Arts Center that has a high impact on the local and global community, and a low impact on the local and global environment. The center exists to offer artists an opportunity to collaborate with artists, with economists, with scientists, administrators, contractors, academics, youth and more... The center will offer collaborators the opportunity to live in residence and be nurtured by society through the arts. The center is a place for artists and audiences to live in a community where they can explore the wonders of humanities creative minds and energies. The center will be a place for all art forms to come and begin a conversation, to live a conversation, and to become the conversation around the world.
