Arsenic and Old Lace--ix.

Annie is dressed to kill...

Tomorrow night I get to go and see what all the commotion is about for this show. It is supposed to be pretty funny in a dark humorous sort of way.

Annie was killed yesterday, embalmed and stuffed in the window seat for the set. I will miss her...R.I.P.

In more upbeat and exciting news, we finished the set yesterday!!! We did a few touch-ups today after the notes from yesterday, and we only have a couple of small things to work on after tonights notes from rehearsal. Here are a few things we did yesterday and today.

Before cornices were installed...

After installation of cornices...

I hate to admit this, but I spent nearly 5 hours working on installing a door that I couldn't get to work for the life of me.

Door unit from Hell frozen over...

I got the lock mortised and set, but couldn't seem to get it to work. I think it was getting stuck on the sides...in other words I made it too tight. I got the hinges set in the door no problem, and put into place, but no matter how hard I tried or how much wood I took away...I couldn't get that door latch to turn, then close on its own. I felt like if I took anymore wood away, then it wouldn't have anything to attach to. I passed the job on to Dan, and from all I can gather he fixed it...I don't know how...and I am so sick of the door that I actually don't care. It looks great though!!!

Later that night Beth and Emily stayed late to put a coat of grain on the floor...

Isn't it gorgeous...!

What a process...

Tape off the outer lines, paint the stage a base coat, let it dry, draw out lines with a long straight edge, mix your paints, and then layer it wet with the different colors you have pre-mixed...its like mixing three soups up to taste yummy, then mixing them together to make the best soup ever...not sure if that is the best analogy, but it works for me...! I hope you have enjoyed the process. Come back tomorrow for the review of the performance.
