Window Seat
I took measurements as if I were going to build a frame and then cover it with plywood. After I made my first few cuts, Dan asked me what I was doing. I told him I was cutting the wood for the frame. He looked at me like I was nuts...I thought I was supposed to build a frame...turns out all I needed to do was attach the plywood...sure its strong enough to hold together on its own. So that is what I did. I made four sides out of 3/4 inch CDX, then cut some 1x3 and a sheet of 1/4 inch luan to support the bottom. The lid was made out of 3/4 inch MDF (its quite a bit stronger and looks great when routed).
One of the CDX sides had a hole cut out of it since an actor will have to be placed into the window seat...a dead body? You might have to come and see Arsenic and Old Lace if you want to know the answer to that question (I guess you could just read it, but that is boring).
Window seat... or is it a coffin?
I still have some more work to do on it. It needs some molding and a nice paint job. I will also need to attach some hinges to the lid so that it opens and closes, but otherwise it is ready to be installed.
Open for business...
Tomorrow we will be installing the walls to the rolling platform along the staircases and on the landing. We will also be working on moldings, doorways, and windows. I love my job!

It looks beautiful, honey! Now that I know you can build all this stuff I may have you build me some things for around the house... =)
